Privacy Policy — Komix
Komix ("the App") is developed by Hai Phat LTD ("we", "us", "our"). This Privacy Policy explains what information the App collects, how it is used, and the choices you have. It applies to the Komix Android application only.
If you do not agree with this Policy, please do not use the App.
1. Overview
Komix is a manga/webtoon reader that works guest-first: there is no sign-up, no login, and no personal profile anywhere in the App. Its comic catalog is bundled inside the App itself, so reading does not require sending your activity to a server we operate.
2. Information we collect
2.1 Reading history, bookmarks, and preferences
The App stores, locally on your device via Android DataStore: which titles/chapters you've opened, your bookmarks, your selected language, and your interface/appearance choice. This data is not transmitted to us or to any third party — the App has no account system and no server that receives it.
2.2 Usage and diagnostic data (Firebase)
We use Firebase Analytics and Firebase Crashlytics (Google) to understand how the App is used and to diagnose crashes. This may include app interaction events, screens viewed, approximate device/app information, and crash logs/stack traces. We use Firebase Remote Config to adjust App behavior remotely; this does not involve your reading history or bookmarks.
2.3 Advertising data (Google AdMob)
The App includes the Google Mobile Ads (AdMob) SDK. Ads are not yet configured in the current release build, but the SDK, its consent flow, and every ad placement in the App are fully wired and may begin serving ads in a future update. When active, AdMob and its mediation partners may access your device's advertising identifier and related device/ad-interaction signals to serve and measure ads — including, on supported Android versions, through Android's Privacy Sandbox (Topics/Attribution) APIs — and, where applicable under your region's rules and consent choices, to personalize them. The App also bundles the Adjust, Meta/Facebook Audience Network, and TikTok Business attribution/ad SDKs for possible future use in ad mediation. None of them is configured with an account token in this build, so none of them currently collects or reports data; we will update this policy before any of them is enabled.
2.4 Purchase data (Google Play Billing)
The App offers optional ad-free access — a weekly subscription, a monthly subscription, or a one-time lifetime purchase — processed entirely through Google Play Billing. Google Play handles your payment method and provides us only your purchase/entitlement status (which option is active) so the App can turn ads off for you. We never see or store your card details.
2.5 Information we do not collect
Komix does not ask you to create an account or sign in, and does not collect your name, email address, phone number, or contact list. The App requests no camera, microphone, location, or photo-library access.
3. How we use information
We use the information above to: operate the App's reading/bookmark features locally on your device, diagnose and fix crashes, understand aggregate usage to improve the App, process the ad-free purchase you choose to make, and — once configured — show and measure ads.
4. Sharing of information
We do not sell your personal information. We share data only with the service providers that power the App's functionality, each acting under their own privacy terms:
- Google (Firebase Analytics, Crashlytics, Remote Config) — usage analytics and crash diagnostics.
- Google AdMob and its mediation/ad-network partners — to serve and measure ads, once active.
- Google Play — to process your ad-free purchase.
We may also disclose information if required by law, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of Hai Phat LTD, our users, or others.
5. Data retention
Your reading history, bookmarks, and preferences stay on your device and are removed when you uninstall the App or clear its storage. Analytics, crash, advertising, and purchase data are retained by Google according to its own retention policies; see our Data Deletion page for how to request deletion of what we can control.
6. Children's privacy
The App is a general-audience manga/webtoon reader, not directed at children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your jurisdiction), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us using the details in Section 8.
7. Your choices and rights
- Advertising ID: reset or opt out of interest-based advertising via Android Settings → Privacy → Ads.
- Local data: uninstalling the App, or clearing its storage in Android Settings → Apps, removes your locally stored reading history, bookmarks, and preferences.
- Deletion/access requests: see our Data Deletion page for how to request deletion of device-linked data held by our analytics/advertising/billing service providers.
- Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights (e.g., under GDPR or CCPA/CPRA) to access, correct, or delete your personal data, or object to certain processing. Contact us at the email in Section 8 to exercise these rights.

9. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time — for example before enabling ads in a release build, or if we add features or change SDK providers. We will update the "Effective date" above when we do.
